Catch-all detection
A deliberately non-existent address is tested first. If the domain accepts it, it is a catch-all: no individual verification can be trusted.

SMTP verification
We query the domain’s MX server with the EHLO → MAIL FROM → RCPT TO sequence, then hang up. The DATA command is never sent, so no email is ever delivered.

Frequently asked questions
Does the tool send an email to the person being looked up?
No. Verification stops at the RCPT TO command, which merely asks the server whether the recipient exists. The DATA command, which would transmit a message, is never sent. The person receives nothing and sees nothing.
What does the “Uncertain” status mean?
It shows up when the domain is configured as catch-all: the server accepts every address, including ones that do not exist. In that case a real address cannot be told apart from a made-up one, so results are ranked by pattern popularity instead.
Why do some addresses stay “Inconclusive”?
Some servers apply greylisting or deliberately hide whether a mailbox exists in order to defeat address harvesting. They answer neutrally, which allows no conclusion.
Is the tool really free?
Yes. It is offered by imaxdev, a freelance developer, as a showcase of their work. No credit card, no account to create. In exchange, your email unlocks the full list of results.
Is this GDPR-compliant?
The tool builds no contact database: every search is one-off and results are deleted after an hour. If you use a found address for outreach, meeting your own obligations — legal basis, source disclosure, right to object — is up to you.
How reliable are the results?
A “Valid” address is confirmed by the domain’s own mail server, so reliability is high. “Uncertain” and “Inconclusive” are estimates. For anything important, always test manually first.
